Job Details
A Big 4 professional services firm is seeking to appoint a Tax Partner to lead and expand its Mining and Metals proposition within a high performing Tax Advisory team.
This is a strategic growth role within a nationally integrated practice of approximately 65 professionals, including 7 Partners, operating across London, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Manchester under a single P&L.
The focus is pure advisory and transactions. This is not a compliance heavy role. It is about leading complex, cross border corporate tax advisory work for multinational mining groups, metals producers and commodity aligned businesses.
The Sector Focus
Mining and Metals is a core priority within the wider Energy and Natural Resources business. The team advises across:
• Upstream mining operations
• Global metals production and processing
• Cross border structuring of operating models
• Capital intensive infrastructure projects
• Joint ventures and international expansion
• Commodity linked groups and trading aligned businesses
The macro backdrop is compelling. Geopolitical shifts, supply chain security, critical minerals demand and the energy transition are driving significant investment into mining and metals globally. The firm has a clear ambition to materially grow its revenue over the next five years, with Mining and Metals forming a central pillar of that strategy.
The Opportunity
The incoming Partner will:
• Lead complex international corporate tax advisory and transactions mandates
• Act as a sector champion for Mining and Metals nationally
• Deepen relationships with major global mining groups and metals producers
• Originate new work across restructuring, expansion and transactions
• Collaborate across UK offices and international network firms
• Mentor and develop a high calibre team of Directors and Senior Managers
This is not a standing start. The platform, client base and brand are already established. The mandate is to build, shape and scale.
The Individual
This role will suit:
• An established Tax Partner with strong credentials in Mining and Metals, or
• A senior Director with demonstrable sector credibility and a track record of originating advisory work who is ready to step into partnership
You will bring:
• Deep international corporate tax advisory expertise
• Experience advising multinational mining or metals groups
• Strong commercial instinct and relationship building capability
• The ambition to shape and grow a national sector offering
Why This Role Stands Out
• Pure advisory and transactions focus
• Clear five year revenue growth mandate
• Strong international network across key mining jurisdictions
• Competitive Partner package with both non-equity or equity potential depending on experience.
This is a rare opportunity for a Mining and Metals specialist to operate at scale, influence strategy and capitalise on increasing global demand for sophisticated international tax advice in the natural resources sector.
